This home is located at 37 Waterloo Street South, Stratford. Photographed in 1907 it shows nine people all a part of a gathering of McCarthy family members. The home belonged to Peter and Emma McNab. Five of these adults are siblings and are the remaining of ten children born to John Augustus McCarthy – Skottowe (1811-1898) and Paulina Izard (1815-1882). This couple would be the first Pioneer settlers arriving in June of 1832 to make Stratford their home. They purchased a block of land north of the river and there they built a home to raise their family. John would become the Bailiff for Perth-Huron County, Crier of the Court and first village Chief Constable.
