Consistent with its practice of naming streets associated with Britain, Stratford, Ontario, has an Abbey Court. It is on the north side of Ontario Street, near the city's eastern boundary.
The term "abbey" denotes a monastery under the supervision of an abbot or a convent under the supervision of an abbess.
The most famous of those monastic establishments is Westminster Abbey in London, England. It is most famous for royal weddings, and for the coronations and burials of English and British monarchs.
